Eons Park: Progress in Motion

by Jesse White

The Dog Park:

Construction has begun on the new parking lots, sidewalk, and the intersection at Houston Road and Sycamore Tree Lane. The project will include 30 parking spaces, a 10-foot sidewalk, and water service to the park, with an expected completion date of November 30, 2025.

Duke Energy has installed a new utility pole and provided electrical service to the dog park area, preparing the site for future enhancements.

Work on the dog park fencing is underway and is expected to go out for bid by early November.

Additional features, such as dog play structures and water fountains, are currently under review and discussion.

The Spine (Sycamore Tree Lane to Turfway Road):

Improvements along Sycamore Tree Lane, from Houston Road to the Cherry Tree subdivision, have been completed. This section received asphalt repairs, crack sealing, seal coating, and striping. From the subdivision to Turfway Road, the roadway was crack sealed and seal coated.

To enhance safety and aesthetics, 10 concrete islands were installed to separate vehicle traffic from the pedestrian walkway between Houston Road and the subdivision. Five islands feature concrete planters, while the other five display poles with decorative banners.

Contractors will begin installing four-board horse fencing at various locations along the Spine next week, with completion anticipated by November 30, 2025.

A bid packet for an upcoming project—including trailheads, bike trails, and a bike pump track—has been released, with bids opening October 30, 2025.
